Hey everyone,
I know a lot of you guys fish, and out of curiosity, what is the biggest fish you have ever caught??
Mine is a 39.5 cm dusky flattie, caught on a blade at Oxley Island (Taree).

37lb Baramundi, i lie wifey caught that one 122cms, fishing with Lindsay Dobe, a mate of dads in Peter fauce dam. Caught some 200kg plus Marlin on the wee weaper as a deck hand/chef, 46cm bream off redhead gravel on fly. Some of my favourite captures have hapened recently with a forum member/moderator getting his first Brown Trout on fly and landing an 80cm aussy salmon on 4lb braid, mine a 70cm tailor on 3lb braid with 20lb leader. Its not always the best fish you catch but the ones you are there to see landed. Flathead to 103cms etc. just because they are big doesnt mean they are any more of a milestone, a first decent capture on any gear is a trophy.
Mark and i are finding if we downsize our gear to 4lb or less we are catching more fish. Mark this year as i know it has landed just under a dozen kings and tuna up t 20lb on his 7' 4 lb gear a feat i am yet to fulfil. i have seen photoes and have had my bro there as witneses, some of these captures i was there to witness!
Big fish on light gear rule........
Maybe we need a fishing section for those blokes who love to wet a line like me.

I think a fishing section would be great, another area in which wisdom can be shared...

Its a good eating size timandson and just think the more you fish the bigger you can catch. There are some days my brother and i head out and all we catch are aquarium size fish (reads tiny ones) but still have a ball catching them. My favourite spot to target bass doesnt hold monsters but its pretty (ah the serenity)
Just dont ask oldmate about the marsupial holes near the trout creeks.

I really hate marsupials hahaha.
Just some pics to prove the claim these are all on 4lb 7foot flick rod. This is what I find a bit of fun. I don't eat fish so it's all about the fun of the fight.

here are a few of mine Caught around Coal Point on a soft plastic from the kayak. The measurement on the handle of the net ony goes to 65cm so I reckon it was around 75ish cm. Not bad on 4lb braid and 6lb leader. 40cm Whitting caught at swansea from the kayak on a blade during last years pirtek comp. This was my first rainbow trout in many many years. A Rainbow was the first fish I ever remember catching so they bring back som many memories for me. This one was caught up at Gloucester on a Celta - spinner. Didn't have a ruler with me again but he was nearly 10cm wider than a sheet of foil so I gestimate around 37ish cm and in really good condition too. Cheers James

I got a new species this season, 84cm Blue grouper. Caught 8 for the session last week and released all of them. To be honest i didnt see the atraction of fishing a 1:1 alvey on a broomstick with 60lb line, i see now that head hauling, winching can be fun too.
