Nice marketing...except all the solutions are 'off the shelf- buy my product' from a US based company.. .

Excellent point Craig, Yes That's true good marketing from a US based company. I thought it was good in that ,being only new at this, Identifying fish with health problems and water quality etc. The cause followed by a fix. Of course I would seek out the best product to use. Info from this forum or a local Aquarium shop. Cheers Paul

No worries Paul, also if you have any questions just ask on the forum, someone is bound to have a good answer If you can maintain good water conditions thats most of the battle for fewer problems. Just make sure on the requirements of the fish your keeping as it varys in differnt species a fair bit, eg pH, Some stuff can be sourced cheap in the supermarket, eg BiCarb Soda, pool salt, epsom salt etc. If your fish need higher pH , then the waters can helped with substrates that buffer and help keep pH up eg cichlids - coral sand (even though I dont use it lol, I prefer white marble chip for looks, but does nothing for buffering pH). Once your water is right, regular partial water changes are the go, results in happy fish, tends to bring on breeding, faster growth rates etc a win-win situation for a little effort. If I see a crook fish or one acting strangely that it goes down hill quick, regardless of what i do. I have had limited success with remedies etc. Thats just my experience though. Cheers Craig

2nd what Craig says. I think clean water and salt is and important addition to a cichlid tank in keeping diseases away. I use a broad spectrum med when i get fish that have fins shredded or are beaten up as it helps keep the fungus away as the stress will lower their immune system and makes them vulnerable. m2c
