Hi guys,
Just wondering, where's the best place to collect drift wood round Newy? I know in town at the dog beach etc regularly has lots wash up, however i'm after something a bit more unique.
Trying to get hold of a root system style driftwood, with long branching roots from the base of the stump. Thinking it would have been too broken up by time it lands in town, so wondering if there's anywhere else you collect nice pieces from (without it being illegal etc).
Cheers!

Nice tips might check them out today! The hunter is a nice easy spot to get to, actually didn't even think of it but I guess you can pretty much walk the entire bank which is handy...

i'd probably choose an area that isnt so well known for contamination
go bush and look for trees that have tipped over and the roots are exposed. if they're hardwood its by far the best source, i've found all of my most interesting pieces this way

Picked up a BIG piece over the weekend, got some odd looks carting it to the car... No idea how it''ll go, but nearly has the perfect branching root structure I was chasing for. Should take up the back half of a corner of the tank nicely. Currently in the bathtub in the shed trying to get it to sink, planning to buy a small garbage bin to cram it into so it's fully submerged, though suspect it may take a few months! Cutting it down The end piece snapped off, however made a beautiful little cave in its own rights! Added bonus! Thinking I may grab a few more, and start the sinking process so when I need them it isn't such a long wait

After heavy rains / flooding always brings heaps downstream - have to dodge it in the boat lol
