New to cichlids was curious to know when. They start coloring up to be able to tell Male to female !!!!!!

Red zebs and white knights would be hard to tell by colour as even when adults they look very similar. By the time they are big enough to tell by colour you would be better off vent sexing them. It would prob be the same deal wih Venustus. With the red empress i would guess around 8cms for the male to start colouring but this is just a guess based on ones i have seen in other tanks.

Around 7-8cm the venustus head will start to go blue if their male.
