I'm heading to Denmark over the Christmas/New Years period to see family. Can't wait to go, only bad thing is the 30 hours on a plane.
Looking for some advice on a good camera to take with me. Want to a fair few photo's as I don't know how long it will be before I can go back.
I have literally no idea when it comes to Camera's and I've been looking around and I'm totally confused by how much choice there is.
Total budget is $2,000, possibly more if it's really worth it. Was looking at DSLR's?
Just looking for something that's easy to use, something that's idiot proof. Hopefully someone has a Model of camera they've bought that they could recommend, or even a brand to get me started.
If anyone has any recommendations they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

canon SLRs are great. highly recommended. you can get heaps of generic accessories and lenses for them that are just as good as the real canon stuff so you can get alot more for your buck.

Got myself a 550D today from JB. Twin lens bundle. Payed a little more than what I could have got it from a net based store. Worth the extra money for the peace of mind of getting it then and there and knowing 100% it's not a grey import.
Now the fun part of trying to figure out how to work it before I go away. I have no idea what 99% of the buttons and menus do. I've got the power and shoot button worked out. Very annoying I can manage the Encryption for the ANZ Internet Banking but have no idea how to use a camera.

What lenses did you get??? How much was the bundle??? [if you feel like divulging that info] Sorry should have put it up. Go the 18-55 & 55-250 IS Lenses in the bundle Looking at a few others at the moment. Was $1296 ticket price. Less the 15% off JB HiFi has at the moment was supposed to be $1101.6, ended up getting it for $1090 cash. Didn't get any memory cards at JB. Got 2x 64Gb SDXC cards from the net. Looking for a good bag to carry everything. Any other 550D owners got any recommendations?

I say cut the relo visiting short and go to amsterdam. My parents would murder me if I suggested that. My Dad's parents are from Denmark and he hasn't been back for almost 10 years. So he'e dying to go back. I've never been there either.

I say cut the relo visiting short and go to amsterdam. Asked today about going spending the first 1 or 2 days of the trip in the UK, before catching a connecting plane to Copenhagen. My Dad's response: "Not going to happen. I'll forget you asked that. Don't ask again" Then he walked away. I think that's a no? I'm not game enough to ask again

He's not angry with you, just disappointed lol Maybe its all the drugs and prostitution?!?!?! I feel that those things are just as prevalent anywhere in Australia. It's not either of those. He is trying to make this into a 'Family' holiday. My Dad has been trying to organize this trip for at least 8 years. He's always wanted to show my brother and me where our family is from. My Father raised my brother and me to be able to speak Danish, he want's to keep that part of our family alive. I've forgotten most of it now, but I've been re-learning it and I know enough that I could get by on my own over there. You'd be surprised how much you can start to remember once you start learning it again. I won't be staying in Copenhagen, my relatives are in Køge. Back onto the topic of cameras

can't you just extend your stay its a long plane ride to go to 1 country, when there are so many countries in a stones throw. Not the way things are panning out with this trip. I've got plenty of time to travel in a few years time. I have no doubt i'll go back to Denmark again one day and will explore other countries then.
