Fertile well drained soil, they dont like wet feet, they feed heavily so top dress with manure regularly and often or a complets fert like thrive etc and some mulch. Morning sun is best but will take full all day, If the fruit get too much arvo sun in the hotest months the fruit can burn.
Loads of water till the stem starts to get woody and then you can slow down the watering as the plant matures and developes a deeper root system.

Hi Chilli-Heads, I have a chilli bush too, it dies off over winter but keeps alive and comes good in spring/summer, has been that way for a few seasons now. Dont know the name but it grows heaps of small red chillies, quite hot. I get heaps and make chilli sauce, enough to have some in the cupboard/fridge all year round. If you get heaps give this a go, just adjust the ratios to suit how many chillies you have: 3.5 cups of chillies 2 cups sugar 700ml bottle of white vinegar 250g of sultanas 8 cloves of garlic crushed 3 teaspoons of salt 1.5 teaspoons of grated ginger 500ml botle of tomato sauce Everything in a large saucepan bring to boil simmer gently until sultanas are soft cool (takes a while...) chuck it thru a blender till it is smoothish, (watch out for splatter if you havent cooled it right down, hot sauce burns) may have to do a couple of batches pour into clean jars and bottles, seal and refrigerate. Makes heaps of awesome chilli sauce. Enjoy, Craig
