doh, on further reading, i think the plant i tried to use as the carpet is actually Micranthmum umbrosum, not Hemianthus micranthmoides. Looks like im gonna have to sort my crap out, and get a proper low slung carpeting plant

Tank seems to be going well, the moss is starting to get some colour now. The hairgrass seems to be taking, but the star grass is looking a little sad. The plant i tried as the carpet was shooting up, so I had to remove it before it got too rooted. Waiting on some Crypt parva and hemianthus micranthmoides to arrive to sort out my foreground.
Using Seachem Flourish twice per week, Flourish Excel daily, and some left over Stability to help kick start the biofiltration. Shrimp are really colourful, and im hoping the Ember tetras start to get some good colour... they're pretty drab atm. I may replace them with some Cardinal Tetra's, or just add the Cardinal's in as well, and leave it at that.

Star grass id a high light plant that needs massive watts per litre to really thrive, It loves MH and HPS lights but tends to sulk under anything else. You may just need to tip prume and re plant as it stretches.
id cut your flourish down to every 4/5 days or work out your weekly dose and use it daily at 1/3 dose. It is quite potent and without additional co2 it will quickly build up. Are you testing nitrate levels as this is what dictated how much additive you use.
Dont forget to add extra iron which will be the limiting factor in your setup, i have some here if you want some cheap.
plants have a set relationship when it comes to feed/light/co2 levels and a small fluctuation in either can have a tank crashing, growth is also limited to its smallest factor eg co2.
give me a call some time or come around and ill answer a few questions for you and give some pointers. Have your readings handy like ph, nitrate iron etc.

sorry, i was absent for a while. Ill get some pics up when i get a chance. Its going nuts at the moment, needs a trim, but ive been lazy, so i need to trim it up a bit. My carpeting plant hasnt, and instead has grown upright, but thankfully still looks pretty good. If i trim it down, it will be fine i reckon.
