last night i did a WC on a grow out tank and when i went to unplug the heater before i started to drain the water i noticed that i had NOT plugged it back in since last weekends WC. thankfully there has been no loss at all but it may have been a different story if it was in the middle of winter.

put your heaters on the bottom or well below water change level and you wont have to unplug.

this used to happen to me, now i have a double adapter, in one plug i have the timer/light and the other plug has a powerboard with a switch on it, so i can just turn heaters/filters off and on together, that way its more obvious if you forget to turn it back on
