Rotated the wheels on the Captiva - man the rims were so stuck on the hubs it was ridiculous... had to use a rubber mallet to loosen them to remove the wheels. Cleaned the corrosion up and put some grease/lub in there in case someone has to change a flat out and about... left the mallet in the car

I have read about a few little problems similar to this that has come up with the captiva. Another one I have heard of was very uneven tyre wear, particularly on the rear tyres of the AWD models. But for a relatively new car you shouldnt have been getting rusty hubs. I have worked on an LC torana that has been sitting in a field for 20 years and the hubs were in good condition. Depending on how old it is maybe take it back to holden. See what they say, if it is a know problem with then there could be a recall on them.

The corrosion wasn't too bad, it is more a function of tight design tolerances - even cleaned up and a bit of grease they are a really tight fit in the centre of the rim onto the hub. Spoke to an experienced Tyre fitter and he said this tight fit thing is common on Captiva, and the mallet tap... Hearing you on the uneven tyre wear, I have some and it is getting some road noise etc, that said the tyres have done a lot of kms... Mine is a Diesel 7 seater and it is an awesome car, really nice to drive and great on fuel, highly recommend them to anyone needing something like this.
