Got hold of some PJ fig cuttings the other day. Nothing too fancy but some already have aerial roots which Im hoping to promote to get that gnarly tangled look. Im in for a long wait I guess. Cheers

Not necessarily mate get it into a mix of 50% potting mix and 50% gravel, or even better diatomite [if you can find it for sale] you can pump it up with dynamic lifter, power feed it.
Theres a Bonsai show coming up in late sept, early oct up here @ Nelson Bay. Ill update details tonight when i get the address.

I thought i'd try to bond moss to a rock via this method. I then misted it with water and placed it into a plastic container and pop it in a shady spot. I'll also be cycling it in different spots, shade, sun light, warmth, cool areas ect ect to find the best method of cultivating moss. Enjoy.

Went for a quick squizz today, the ladies up there have crammed a fair few tree's into such a small space. Here's the few that caught my eye: 40 yr old fig: Radiata pine: Hawthorne: And the Newcastle Bonsai Society show is coming up soon. 4th 5th & 6th November 2011 Charlestown Bowling Club 5 Lincoln Street, Charlestown

*NOTE* these are sticks in bonsai pots and not ribbon winning bonsai. Heres No. 1 Cant show the front till it settles in and i remove alot of foliage: Back: Side: Squamata No. 2 It was a dead straight T shape, dont know what side i want as front yet: No. 3, still the same as it was in the nursery pot, ill let it settle before copping and pinching: As always opinions, critique are welcome.

ok im not looking at this thread anymore, I feel myself getting too interested. Looking really good mate. Do it mate, look at all the stock you have at your finger tips, and at the lowest prices too Think of it as aquascaping without the aqua, and retail mark ups. Plus i need partners in crime for moss, driftwood, suiseki stones, landscape slabs and yamadori hunting.

The Newcastle Club will be holding it's annual exhibition on the first weekend in November at Charlestown Bowling Club. There will be demonstrations including one from Ray or Clinton Nesci. There will also be stock for sale.

Nah Joel, i get my kicks just having a garden full of wee tree's.
None of mine are anywhere near ribbon winning. You should have a look at what other novacastrians have to offer the public.
